Hydrotherapy is the use of water at different temperatures to introduce hormetic stress - a consciously induced acute level of stress to train the body to respond to adverse circumstances. It is believed that hot and cold extremes, when medically supervised, can reap many rewards for the body.
Our outdoor hydrotherapy circuit is only recommended for clients who have been given the green light by the attending physiotherapist or authorized medical professional. For those that already experience chronic stress, cardiopulmonary conditions, and autoimmune conditions, the hydrotherapy circuit may be contraindicated.
Our outdoor hydrotherapy circuit has the following features:
The Scandinavians have been using saunas to stay warm and healthy for centuries. And they aren’t the only ones in the world. Sweat lodges and the like have been used to detox the body of unwanted toxins. It is believed that hyperthermia induces a short-term stress called hormesis that conditions the body and makes it more resilient to more destructive and longer-term stresses. Some benefits of sauna use include: clear skin, relaxation, weight loss, and improved sleep.
The Scandinavians also pair sauna use with ice plunges. You may wonder why one would ever purposely put herself through so much discomfort. The answer again lies in the concept of hormetic stress. When we consciously and intentionally put our body in short-term stress, it becomes more resilient. Some benefits to cold water therapy include weight loss, improved immunity, deep relaxation, more alertness (less caffeine dependency), less muscle soreness, and reduced symptoms of depression and anxiety.
With our salt water, cedar-encased hot tub, you can enjoy all the benefits of a soak without excessive chlorine drying out your skin. Some benefits of a hot soak include muscle relaxation, stress relief, calorie burn with zero exercise, pain relief, improved circulation, and improved sleep. The bonus of essential oils, cedar tub and a view of the waterfalls can easily get you into a deep, meditative state.
The hydrotherapy circuit is oriented around this tranquil and soothing waterfall. While taking a break, you can sit around the firepit or meditate in the Zen garden.
Take a luxurious and detoxifying bath in our indoor clawfoot cast iron tub. For special requests only, we create a cleansing bath with epsom salts, essential oils, and herbal teas. For a beautiful touch, we add fragrant flowers and herbal plants.
